But thinking about it is what keeps me so unsure or in this case unconvient if you can call it that. I know im going to get some corrections and such but its better off pointing out something that can be a game changer itself weather its for the good or the bad so for now we can only wait and That I can understand quite clearly from where your getting from. But currently as it is right now I say the reviews will change more and more as it might end up showing that Right now its pushing people away than instead having people buy it all because of the dreaded xbox live and some other issues but its the main known one so far. I think that if Sot have launch separately on steam having its own self and not direct connected to MC I say more and more people would of bought the steam version and enjoyed it a bit more. I know this is a crazy ramble I been going off but in the overall short story. If you take out the ones that have played this game long before steam (And in which case I am not going to look at all those reviews to sort them out) Is that honestly most of the negatives are from new players or some who also played it before but had there own issue with it. They are either day one or just long time players which btw I dont mind but the thing is. Its on steam (Really the main thing) As looking over the positives reviews I can already tell by looking at them that most if not all are from players who also spend tons of time on MC version so they know all much about it. (Im going off a hunch on this one as i do not know for sure as I have not bought it from steam so if someone have the steam one let me know if this one is true or not)ī. So now you might point out im going mainly after negatives, well no as the positives are pretty much simple its not much but ill say what the positives so far on steam currently.Ī. (It varys as everyone have a different taste) Or having a harder time to deal with the headache that is xbox live to get friends online and to join crew. So now without the idea of what to do they would sail randomly until they either get sunk by expedience crew (Weather it be the toxic or not) or find it boring if they do a few beginner quests. (First impressions as usual) When they hop on in, I bet you some just skip the tutorial because they wouldn't notice or really the tutorial doesn't greatly help with the things needed to know in this game. Isnt going to be pretty.īecause of the sever mishaps and long load times it gives new players a bad taste already thinking this is how it normally is. That and combined with small severs (Small as I mean how many ships per sever) and putting it out in a big game store as steam. As know Sot is 2 years old at this point and really there are still old bugs that haven't been fully dealt with. Well like I said long term matters in the scale of a game. So overall what be the big deal with it when its barely out? some of you may ask or close to that. The failure of xbox live (And as well the big oops of the severs load times which mind you isnt a good first impression either) So why does this seem to be a fuss or a little set back? Well for one it have a potential long term effect of driving people away than bringing them in.Īs for current review from this post (Yes its still early but just think in long term)ġ785 positive and 385 negatives (4 of which was refunds) Dosent seem too bad but looking at the negatives or the ones that have alot of thought into it have someone greatly in common. So even if say Hoi4 was on MC but also on Steam at least steam can still use the friend overlay. But for those games they have there separate version or department whichever the correct term. I check the MC store and there are similar pc games with multiplayer that also show on steam. Going back to A but this is the difference with this one. SoT did not have its own separate version for the steam. you needed a MC account which already kills the chance for easier crew set up.ī.You still needed to use the xbox live because its the only way to invite friends into the crew and not the easier steam overlay of just finding the friend name and clicking invite.Ĭ. To think there would be a steam overlay to invite friend in a much faster way was not the case as for few reasons.Ī. That simply is the invite/join friends system aka Xbox live. It still dosent solve one of the well know annoying issues with the game. I can tell there are others who can get behind this as to the fact that its good that the game is expanding to other stores like steam.
